Xavier Labour Relations Institute, widely known as XLRI was born out of the vision of a Jesuit Priest, father Quinn Enright. It was founded in 1949 in the Steel city of Jamshedpur, Bihar.

Programs

Postgraduate Programmes in PM & IR And BM

The two-year full-time Postgraduate Programme in Personnel Management & Industrial Relations (PM & IR) / Business Management (BM) prepares a student for a career in industry and services.

The PMIR programme is a specialized programme in itself; there are no separate Areas for Concentration. Students are required to choose 18 electives from the courses offered to them.

Out of the 18 electives in the BM programme, a student is free to choose electives from any area.

Eligibility

For PM & IR and BM programmes, graduates who have completed three years of Bachelor's degree in any discipline as well as the postgraduates in any discipline are eligible to apply. Those completing their final examination by June 15, 2005 may also apply.

Academic Programme

The academic programme consists of six 10-12 week Terms, spread over two years for the PM & IR and BM programmes.

Preparatory Programme

A ten-day preparatory programme will be conducted during June 2005. The objective of the programme is to reduce the gap in Mathematics and Accounting knowledge amongst students coming from different educational backgrounds.
When the admission offer is made, the student would be indicated whether he/she is required to undergo the preparatory programme. While it is compulsory for such students to attend the preparatory programme, other students may opt for the preparatory programme if they so desire.

Admission Process

The Admissions process involves the following:
1. XLRI Admissions Test
o To get admission to XLRI, candidates have to appear for XLRI Admissions Test (XAT 2005).
o To register for XAT, candidates have to fill the XAT Form that is available online at www.xlri.edu/xat. Once the candidate logs on to this site, a full set of instructions will appear.
2. Application to XLRI
o The application form to apply for XLRI is available only online at http://www.xlri.edu.

Fellow Programme in Management

The Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) is equivalent to a Ph.D programme.

Eligibility

Applicants for the Fellow Programme in Management should have a Master's degree or its equivalent in any discipline with at least 55% aggregate marks (45% for SC/ST candidates) or a BE/B.Tech degree with at least 60% aggregate marks (50% for SC/ST candidates) and at least three years of relevant work experience in an organization. Those completing their final examination by June 15, 2005 may also apply.

One-year General Management Programme

XLRI has evolved a one year consolidated programme in general management with the objectives of providing the practicing managers a substantial exposure to theoretical foundations in management. The Institute awards the Executive Diploma In General Management to the participants who successfully complete all the requirements of this programme.

Eligibility

Candidates applying for One Year General Management programme must hold a minimum of three years Bachelor's Degree from a recognized University in India/abroad in any discipline, be employed in a full-time job, must have at least three years of relevant managerial experience as on March 31st, 2005 in an organization of repute in the public, private or non-governmental sector after completing graduation.

Executive Postgraduate Programme in Management (Exec-PGP) - For Working Executives

XLRI has been offering this three year programme since June 2000 for the working executives in India who have the potential to reach higher levels in the hierarchy of the management.

From October 2001, the Institute also began offering the Exec-PGP in Dubai in collaboration with the Al Abbas Institute of Technology.

Eligibility

Candidates applying for the three year Executive Postgraduate programme must hold a minimum of three years Bachelor's Degree from a recognized University in India/abroad in any discipline; should be employed in a full-time job; must have at least two years of relevant managerial experience in an organisation of repute in the public, private or non-governmental sector after completing graduation and the necessary permission from the employer for pursuing this programme

Program for International Student Exchange at XLRI (POISE)

Established in 1949, XLRI has been at the forefront of management education ever since. Equipped with excellent faculty, state of the art infrastructure and an updated curriculum, the institute continues to groom managers for the future.

The highest salary offered this year is Rs. 8.78 Lakhs. The average salary figure of the batch of 2004 is Rs. 7.14 Lakhs. The lowest salary figure being 4.2 Lakhs.
