SHASTRI INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT
Lal Bahadur Shastri Institute of Management, Delhi has emerged
as a centre for excellence in management and IT education, training,
research and consultancy. In fitness to the name it bears, the Institute
inherently swears by and upholds the high ideals and vision that
the great son of India, late Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri, was endowed
with and stood for throughout his exemplary life.
International Linkages
Since its inception the Institute has been assimilating
the latest thinking and developments in the area of Management -
both national and international. On this front the Institute has
entered into academic collaboration with the following Universities
/ Institutes:
1. Southwest Missouri State University (SMSU), Missouri, USA
2. New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), USA
3. Saginaw Valley State University, Michigan, USA
The academic programs with these Universities/Institutes include
exchange of faculty and joint research. In the case of NJIT, dual
degree program has been agreed upon with reference to the Information
Technology Management Programme of LBSIM. The dual degree program
consists of two phases. In the first phase, a student must successfully
complete the one year IT Management Programme at LBSIM. The second
phase requires the students to complete MBA in Management of Technology
courses in residence at NJIT. The admission to the second phase
is contingent upon successful completion of the program at LBSIM
and a satisfactory score in the Graduate Management Admission Test
(GMAT). On successful completion of one-year study at NJIT, the
same will award MBA in Management of Technology degree.
There is continuous interaction of LBSIM with NJIT and SMSU. A
team of 14 members from Southwest Missouri University, USA, comprising
academicians, executives and students visited the Institute on 17th
January 2001, and interacted with the faculty and students.
Courses Offered
Post Graduate Programme in Management
Two year full time Post Graduate Programme in Management
consists of Six Trimesters. The course structure has been designed
to ensure that the management graduates of LBSIM develop a judicious
blend of strategic thinking and tactical implementation, specialised
knowledge and general management skills.
Eligibility
A three years Bachelors degree in any discipline with 50%
marks in aggregate.
Final year students may also apply.
Admission Process
All the eligible candidates have to take the Common Entrance
Test (CAT) conducted jointly by the six IIM's.The candidates have
to appear for the Group Discussion and a Personal Interview at LBSIM,if
shorlisted.
Three Years Part Time Post Graduate Programme in Management
for working executives
The first three semesters primarily focus on basic courses
to build a foundation of knowledge and skills required for more
specialized study in various functional areas to be pursued in Second
Year and Third Year of the Program. In later semesters of the course,
electives will be offered to enable the participants to pursue in-depth
learning in the area of their specialization
One Year Post Graduate Programme in Risk and Insurance
Management
The programme focuses on various dimensions of risk management
and presents a spectrum of managerial solutions. The programme is
designed to meet the requirements of working executives who might
feel the need to upgrade their knowledge and skills in Insurance
and risk management.
