INDIAN INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT, BANGALORE

Established in 1973 by the Government of India, the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore is a Center of Excellence in the field of management education. The core activity of the institute is designed to provide management graduates with inputs in the functional areas of Marketing, Finance, Economics & Social Sciences, Information Systems, Operations, Corporate Strategy, International Management, and Personnel Management and Human Resources Management. Courses Offered

Post Graduate Programme (PGP)

The two-year Post - Graduate Programme in Management (PGP) is the flagship programme of the Institute. The number of applicants admitted to this programme is limited to around 180. For the academic session 2002-04 the intake was approximately 215 students.

Eligibility for domestic candidates

A Bachelor's degree (10+2+3 system) or an equivalent degree recognized by the Association of Indian Universities/AICTE as eligible for Postgraduate studies.
Candidates appearing at the final bachelor's degree (10+2+3) or equivalent degree examinations are also eligible to apply provided they complete all their graduating requirements including practical examinations/assignments before June 30 2004. Their admission will, however, be considered provisional until they produce their marksheet and certificate satisfying the eligibility criterion. The time limit for submitting the graduating marksheet is September 30 2004.

Open University graduates must show proof of minimum three years after class twelve and a certificate from the university equivalent to a bachelor's degree.

Diplomas like Hotel Management, Fashion Technology are not eligible unless equivalent certificates to a three-year university degree are provided.

Admission Process

The CAT advertisement normally appears in daily national newspapers across the country in the first week of August. Applying for CAT is the first step in the process for seeking admission to the Post-Graduate in Management at IIMB. Candidates are short listed for the interview on the basis of their performance in the CAT, scholastic achievement and relevant work experience. At this stage, the short listed candidates are sent application forms to formally apply to the Post Graduate Program (PGP). Once the formal applications are received, candidates are informed of the interview schedule. Final selection is based on performance in CAT, scholastic achievement, work experience, and performance in the group discussion and interview, and three letters of reference

Eligibility for Overseas candidates

A three yrs bachelor's degree from the University
The candidates are expected to take GMAT and have an official result (along with the AWA score) reported to IIMB.GMAT code no for IIMB is 7036.
Final selection is on the basis of GMAT, scholastic achievement, work experience and three letters of reference. Financial support is available to needy students. This takes the form of tuition waivers and/or maintenance allowance for four or more terms. The Financial Aid Committee of the Institute will consider applications for financial support on a case-by-case basis. Students belonging to SC/ST will be given special consideration for financial support. Emergency assistance may also be provided as required.

Post Graduate Programme in Software Enterprise Management (PGSM)

Eligibility

A graduate degree from a recognised university or equivalent institute.
Minimum of 2 yrs work experience in the software industry, as on 31st August 2003.
Admission Process
Separate Written test will be conducted by the Institute for the programme.

Fellow Programme In Management (FPM):

The fellow programme in Management is a Doctoral level Programme .It is designed to equip students with professional skills suitable for careers in management teaching, research, training and consultancy.

Eligibility

  • A Master's degree in any discipline or equivalent qualification recognized by the Association of Indian Universities/AICTE as eligible for Postgraduate studies. Those appearing for the above examinations may also apply, provided they complete all the requirements for the degree prior to 30th june 2004.
    Applicants for the Corporate strategy and Policy specialisation must have a minimum of 2yrs of work experience and a minimum of 55% marks in mfster's degree. OR
    CA with minimum 55% marks, OR
    First Class Bachelors degree in Engg. or Technology with minimum of 2yrs of work experience.
  • The candidate also has to fulfill the criterion for CAT.
  • NRI's and Foreign Applicants with GMAT score (with AWA scores) in 2003 are also eligible to apply.

Waivers : IIM-PGDM holders who have graduated in 1995 or later with a minimum of CGPA of 2.75 out of a maximum of 4.0 are exempted from appearing for CAT and also from first year's course work.

Candidates may also download the letter of Reference blanks and give them to the referees, so that the referees may mail them to the Incharge Admissions separately.
