INDIAN INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT, AHMEDABAD

In just four decades IIMA has evolved from being India's premier management institute to a notable international school of management. It all started with Dr Vikram Sarabhai and a few other public spirited industrialists realizing that agriculture, education, health, transportation, population control, energy, and public administration were all vital elements in a growing society and that it was necessary to link these meaningfully with industry. The result was the creation of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad in 1961 as an autonomous body with the active collaboration of the Government of India, Government of Gujarat, and industry.

Programs

Post Graduate Programme (PGP)

The Post-Graduate Programme is the most prestigious curriculum at IIMA. The programme nurtures world-class managers by exposing them to real life unstructured situations along with analytical tools and business philosophies.

The selection procedure is a two-stage process. In the first stage, candidates to be called for group discussion and personal interview are short-listed from among those who have applied. The CAT score is one of the inputs used in drawing up the shortlist; the other inputs used are past academic background and achievements, and post-degree work experience. In the second stage, candidates to be admitted are selected from among those who have attended the group discussion and personal interviews. In preparing this admission list, inputs such as performance in group discussion and personal interview, the CAT score, academic background and achievements, extra-curricular activities, and post-degree work experience, are taken into consideration.

Eligibility: The minimum eligibility criterion for admission to PGP is at least a three-year bachelor's degree or equivalent in any discipline recognized by the Association of Indian Universities/AICTE as eligible for post-graduate studies in Management.

PGPX One Year Post Graduate Programme in Management for Executives
IIM, Ahmedabad, is launching PGPX for executives with substantial work experience. PGPX is a full time residential programme leading to a Post Graduate Diploma in Management. The design of PGPX is built on the Institute's well established experience of designing and running postgraduate management programmes for exceptionally bright students and a wide range of executive education programmes for practicing managers from many countries. It takes into account the substantial and varied experience the selected executives bring to the classroom.

The objective of the programme is to develop bright, enthusiastic, and aspirational executives into management leaders and change agents in the global arena. The programme has a general management focus, with emphasis on managing across borders and cultures. It has an international project besides teaching content drawn from many countries. The programme is open to executives of all nationalities.

Executives who have a bachelor's degree or equivalent in any discipline and are at least 27 by the start of the programme may apply. Corporate sponsorship is welcome but not essential. Participants are selected through a rigorous admissions process that includes GMAT, leadership profiling and personal interviews (either face to face or via videoconference).

At the end of the programme, placement services are provided to non-sponsored participants. World class infrastructure has been created on the Institute's hundred acre campus. Accommodation is available for both single and married participants. Selected candidates get about six months between the confirmation of admission and the joining date. This should help them plan their move to Ahmedabad.

The application form is available online. The programme fee is Rs 800,000 for a single participant. This includes tuition, academic expenses like programme material, library and network charges, room and board. The fee also covers similar heads for the international project and the travel to and from the host country.
