INDIAN INSTITUTE OF FOREIGN TRADE

The Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) was set up in 1963 by the Government of India as an autonomous organization to help professi1onalise the country's foreign trade management and increase exports by developing human resources; generating, analyzing and disseminating data, and conducting research.

The Institute's National and International Linkages:

• International Association of Trade Training Organisations (IATIO), UK
• Academy of International Business (AIB), USA
• Association of Training Institutions for Foreign Trade in Asia and the Pacific (ATIFTAP), Manila, Philippines

The Institute has a MOU with Korean Institute for Industrial Economics and Trade for collaborative research. ESCAP has recognised the Institute as a Centre of Maritime Education and Training. The Centre offers a specialised part-time programme for the benefit of shippers and others involved in this area.

Within the country, IIFT has institutional linkages with major trade and industry associations, such as Confederation of Indian Industries (CII), Federation of Indian Export Organisations (FIEO) etc. Joint Seminars on important national issues are the primary outcomes of these linkages.

Courses Offered

Masters Programme in International Business (MPIB)

The two years full time masters programme in international business is a foundation course for developing a competent cadre of business executives to meet the country's growing requirement of resource personnel in the field of foreign trade and international business operations.

Eligibility

Candidates should have a recognized Bachelor's degree of minimum three yrs of duration.
No age limit.
Candidates appearing for a qualifying examination can also apply, subject to submission of proof of requisite qualification by 7th October 2004.

Admission Process

All the candidates have to take the written test conducted by the institute.
For NRI/NRI sponsored/Foreign candidates :On the basis of GMAT. For MBA 2004-06,GMAT result should be received by the institute latest by end of march 2004.
Three year Master's Programme in International Business-Evening

Eligibility

Bachelor's degree with minimum 50% marks (or equivalent grade) from any recognized university or institution.
3 yrs work experience (after graduation) in management cadre as on 31st march 2004.
No age limit.

Admission Process

All the candidates have to take the written test conducted by the institute, followed by the group discussion and interview held in May.

Executive Master's in International Business-(18 months)

For Working People and Self employed individuals. The Programme is to be completed in three semesters of five months each. The concentrated classroom studies will commence with a weeklong programme at the beginning of each semester followed by classes on Fridays and Saturdays on alternate weeks. Student is awarded the Masters on successful completion of evaluation process.

Eligibility

Post Graduate degree/Engineering degree or equivalent from any recognized university or Institution. Managerial experience of at least 3 yrs.
Graduation or equivalent degree from any recognized university or Institute. Managerial experience of at least 5 yrs.
Only the work experience after the eligibility qualifications as on 31st December of the year when the programme is advertised is considered.
Selection will be on the basis of interviews.

Certificate course in Export Management-(four months evening course)

To help working executives and officers to develop analytical skills to identify export opportunities, to determine conditions for access to potential markets and to achieve export objectives in International marketing operations.

Eligibility

Bachelor's degree from any recognized Indian or Foreign University and a minimum of 2 yrs. of post degree full time work experience at executive level as on 31st July of the year of the start of the programme.
Organizational sponsorship preferred.
Non-sponsored candidates should give a 'No Objection Certificate' from the employer.
Selection will be on the basis of interview.
