GOA INSTITUTE OF MANAGEMENT, GOA

Established in 1993 as a centre for excellence in management education and research, through the initiative and support of some prominent citizens and industrialists and with the encouragement of the Government of Goa.

Registered as a trust under the Societies Registration Act, 1860, its management and control vests with the Board of Governors constituted and functioning in accordance with the rules and regulations of the Association.

Programs

Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management (PGDBM)

The faculty’s main objective is to assist the student to develop those qualities and to internalize those values, which make for effective leadership in organizations.

Eligibility

Minimum requirement for admission to the postgraduate programme is a three-year Bachelors degree or equivalent in any discipline, recognised by the AICTE/Association of Indian Universities as eligible for Post Graduate Studies in Management with not less than 50% in the overall aggregate.

Entrance test

Applicants for admission are required to take the XLRI Admissions Test (XAT) conducted by the Xavier Labour Relations Institute, Jamshedpur.

Selection

After the entrance test, the candidates will be short-listed for the interview-group discussion stage. Interview centres: Bangalore, Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Panaji. The final selection will be made on the basis of the applicant’s past academic performance, test score, performance in group discussion and interview, work experience, if any.

For students of Goan origin/domicile the qualifying cut-off XAT score will be lowered by 10 points.

Part-Time Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management for Working Executives (PGDBM)

Approved by the All India Council of Technical Education, this programme is especially designed to offer experienced executives who have the potential to reach senior management positions, the opportunity to undergo formal MBA level training without interrupting their careers.

  • Three-year part-time programme with three terms in each year of the programme
  • Classes on weekends (Saturdays: 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., Sundays: 9 a.m. to 12.30 p.m.)
  • Each term consists of thirteen weeks and an examination week. Participants are expected to complete the assigned readings and projects during the week.

Admission to this programme is competitive. Candidates should meet the following requirements:

  • Minimum 50% marks in a three-year Bachelors degree or equivalent in any discipline, recognized by the AICTE/Association of Indian Universities as eligible for Post Graduate Studies in Management; and
  • Full time work experience of at least three years in an executive position.
  • Recommended by the employer as possessing the maturity, motivation, and potential for higher-level management in the organization.
  • Comfortable with using computers.

Applicants who meet the qualifying requirements will have to attend, at their own cost, the interview process, which will be held at the Institute. The selection will be based on the candidate’s performance in the interview process, and will take into account the nature of his or her work experience.
